ShenShine Cleaning Scholarship for Environmental Awareness

Amount: CAD $750  |  For: Students who think critically about clean spaces and community health

Why this Scholarship?

Cleanliness isn’t just personal—it’s public and collective. It shapes health outcomes, workplace safety, air quality, productivity, and even how communities are perceived. Yet industrial and environmental sanitation rarely get serious attention in schools or policy debates.

At ShenShine Cleaning, we’ve spent years cleaning homes and businesses. We’ve seen what happens when hygiene is ignored—how unsafe it gets for the public and for workers—and how little attention is given to the link between cleanliness, public health, and environmental consequences. This scholarship is our way of raising that conversation.

What We’re Looking For

We’re not asking for policy drafts or abstract theory. We want grounded ideas—real thoughts, informed by observation and relevant questions. Show how cleanliness shapes people and places.

Write one essay between 1,000–1,500 words on one of the topics below.

Choose One Topic

  1. Why Clean Spaces Are Public Health Infrastructure
  2. The Psychology of Cleanliness: How Sanitation Impacts Human Behavior
  3. What COVID-19 Taught Us About Cleaning Practices—And What We Forgot Too Soon
  4. Beyond the Broom: How Commercial Cleaning Affects Worker Safety and Business Trust
  5. Cleaning inside the Age of Climate Responsibility: Sustainable Solutions or Greenwashing?

Your Essay Should

  • Be 1,000–1,500 words
  • Be structured but not stiff
  • Be thoughtful and easy to follow
  • Address real-world issues, not hypotheticals
  • Be entirely your own work

This isn’t a test of polish—it’s a call for intelligent writing that treats cleanliness as a serious, necessary issue.

Why This Scholarship Exists

Cleaning isn’t glamorous—but it’s critical. Every sanitized space exists because someone planned it, executed it, regulated it, and did the labor. In public discourse, professional cleaning work barely gets a mention. We want to change that.

This award is about awareness—asking students to think more deeply about the systems that support health, dignity, and everyday function. Our daily work solves practical problems, manages risk, meets standards, and protects people. This scholarship raises the standard of thought behind that work.

Final Word

Have you noticed how people act differently in a spotless space versus a messy one? Wondered why some neighborhoods are better maintained than others? If so, you’re on the right track.

Push that curiosity further. Write it down. Submit your essay. Join a conversation that rarely happens—but urgently needs to.

We’re looking forward to reading what you have to say.
